Bloedel Reserve

Bloedel Reserve

An island legacy of landscaping and natural beauty.

Bloedel Reserve began as the estate of Prentice and Virginia Bloedel and opened to the public in 1988 with a vision of blending art, landscape, and quiet reflection across its 150 acres. Gardens and paths move from manicured spaces of the Reflection Pool and Japanese Garden into cathedral‑like Douglas fir forests and mossy woodland trails that are restorative and grounding. Seasonal blossoms like cherry trees, rhododendrons, and camellias add color in spring, while stone bridges and water features create moments that slow your pace and draw the eye. The care taken in every corner of the reserve and the way each turn reveals a new view shaped by both design and nature makes Bloedel truly special. Programs and educational offerings, including classes and guided walks, invite people to deepen their connection to the land and the natural rhythms that shape this extraordinary place.
